Vice President, Marketing & Communications
Lauren Leff serves as Vice President, Marketing & Communications for the Video Advertising Bureau (VAB). Leff joined the VAB in February 2018 as the organization’s first in-house strategic communications executive. A media and marketing industry career professional, Leff has previously led PR and communications at cinema advertising network National CineMedia (NCM), MSNBC, CNBC, and Showtime Networks, as well as independent public relations agency teams representing Discovery, HGTV and Telemundo, among others. Throughout her career, Leff has created and implemented communications campaigns supporting growth initiatives and helping drive business development for a variety of corporations and organizations.
Most recently, she was a senior vice president at New York’s Kite Hill PR overseeing account teams for Salon Media Group, Branded Entertainment Network (BEN), Trusted Media Brands and cross-device marketing technology company, Tapad. At DiGennaro Communications (DGC), Leff led advertising, media and entertainment industry accounts including Live Nation Entertainment.
A career highlight includes serving on the NBC and Microsoft executive team that launched MSNBC, and its companion website, MSNBC.com. As MSNBC’s inaugural media relations director, Leff hired the cable network’s first public relations team and developed launch communications strategies collaborating with MSNBC’s general manager, executive producers, NBC News management and Microsoft senior leadership. Following MSNBC’s successful introduction, Leff directed and implemented on-going communications activities and served as spokesperson for the 24-hour cable news network.
Her diverse public relations and corporate communications background has given Leff hands-on experience developing strategic campaigns for a wide range of successful cinema, television, music and sports properties including The Metropolitan Opera: Live in HD cinema series; live cinema boxing matches with Floyd “Money” Mayweather; Hardball with Chris Matthews; The News with Brian Williams; The Big Show with Keith Olbermann; NBC Olympics programming; as well as national and grassroots public relations efforts for a U.S. blues tour featuring B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, The Allman Brothers, John Lee Hooker and Etta James, among other music luminaries.
A graduate of the University of California, San Diego, Leff holds B.A. degrees in communications and drama.
